UAE E-Invoicing: Deadlines and What Your Software Must Do

Updated 22 Oct 20267 min readby Ajmal, Founder, Erratum Solutions

The UAE is moving B2B and B2G invoicing onto a national e-invoicing system. Large businesses face the first deadline on 30 October 2026, and everyone else follows in phases.

This guide explains who is affected, what the system expects from your accounting or ERP software, and what to fix first. Dates below are as of 22 October 2026. Always confirm them with the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Tax Authority before you act.

Compliance is mostly a data problem. If your invoices already carry clean customer, tax, and line-item data, the technical side is manageable. If they do not, start there.

AI summary

The UAE is rolling out mandatory B2B and B2G e-invoicing through accredited service providers using the Peppol PINT AE format. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an ASP by 30 October 2026 and go live on 1 January 2027, with smaller VAT-registered businesses following in later phases. Software must produce structured invoice data, connect to an ASP, and archive records.

  • First deadline: ASP appointment by 30 October 2026 for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more.
  • Go-live for that group: 1 January 2027. Smaller businesses follow in later phases (confirm dates officially).
  • In scope: B2B and B2G invoices. B2C is not yet covered.
  • Format: Peppol PINT AE structured data, delivered through an Accredited Service Provider.
  • Typical work: clean master data, map invoice fields, connect ERP or accounting software to the ASP, test end to end, and archive for five years.

Key takeaways

  • Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) by 30 October 2026, with e-invoicing live from 1 January 2027, according to published guidance.
  • Other VAT-registered businesses follow later in phases. Sources differ on exact dates, so check the Ministry of Finance before you plan.
  • The scope covers B2B and B2G transactions. B2C invoices are not yet in scope.
  • The system uses the Peppol-based PINT AE format and a five-corner model, where your software talks to an ASP instead of sending files straight to the tax authority.
  • Reported penalties are AED 5,000 per month of delay for missing the ASP appointment or implementation deadline.

What is changing

The UAE Ministry of Finance is introducing a national electronic invoicing system for business-to-business and business-to-government transactions. Instead of emailing a PDF, your system sends structured invoice data through an Accredited Service Provider, which passes it on to the buyer and to the tax authority's systems.

The format is based on Peppol, the same standard used in parts of Europe and Asia. In the UAE it is called PINT AE. If your invoices today are PDFs generated from Word, Excel, or a basic template, they will need to come from a system that can output structured data.

Deadlines as of 22 October 2026

Published guidance sets the first milestone at 30 October 2026: businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must have appointed an ASP. Mandatory use for that group starts on 1 January 2027.

Smaller VAT-registered businesses are expected to follow in later phases. Public sources disagree on those dates, with some pointing to 2027 and others to a wider rollout after that. Treat any date for smaller businesses as provisional until the Ministry of Finance or the Federal Tax Authority confirms it for your revenue band.

Reported penalties are AED 5,000 for each month of delay in appointing an ASP or implementing the system. Even if you are in a later phase, the work is the same, and starting early is cheaper than rushing.

What your software must be able to do

Produce invoices and credit notes as structured data in the PINT AE format, not only as a printable document.

Hold clean master data: customer legal names, tax registration numbers, addresses, product codes, and tax categories. Most failed submissions come from missing or inconsistent master data, not from the connection itself.

Connect to an Accredited Service Provider through its API or a supported integration, and handle accepted, rejected, and pending statuses.

Keep an audit trail and archive invoices. Public guidance mentions a five-year retention period.

A practical readiness checklist

1. Confirm which phase applies to your revenue band, using official sources.

2. List every system that issues invoices: accounting package, ERP, POS, billing portal, spreadsheets.

3. Clean your customer and product master data, especially tax registration numbers and units of measure.

4. Ask your software vendor in writing whether and when they will support an ASP connection.

5. Shortlist ASPs and compare integration options, pricing, and support.

6. Map your invoice fields to PINT AE and note gaps, such as missing reference numbers or tax codes.

7. Test with real invoice samples, including credit notes and corrections, before go-live.

8. Train the finance team on rejected-invoice handling and corrections.

Upgrade, integrate, or replace

If your accounting package already announced ASP support, upgrading is usually the fastest route. If you run a custom or heavily modified system, an integration layer that sits between your software and the ASP is often cheaper than a rebuild.

Replace the system only when it cannot hold structured data at all, or when the vendor has no plan to support the mandate. We cover the wider trade-offs in our custom versus off-the-shelf guide.

How Erratum Solutions can help

We build invoicing modules, ERP integrations, and data clean-up tools for UAE businesses. A typical first step is a short review of how invoices are created today and which system owns the data. From there we recommend the smallest change that meets your deadline.

Frequently asked questions

When is the UAE e-invoicing deadline?

Published guidance says businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and be live on 1 January 2027. Smaller VAT-registered businesses follow in later phases, and sources give different dates for them. Check the Ministry of Finance and Federal Tax Authority before you commit to a plan.

Does e-invoicing apply to B2C sales?

Current guidance covers B2B and B2G transactions. B2C is not yet part of the mandate. Retail businesses should still watch for updates.

What is an Accredited Service Provider (ASP)?

An ASP is an approved intermediary that validates your invoice data and exchanges it over the national network. Your accounting or ERP system sends structured invoices to the ASP, and the ASP handles delivery and reporting.

What is PINT AE?

PINT AE is the UAE's Peppol-based invoice data specification. Your software has to produce invoices in this structured format, not just a PDF.

What happens if my software cannot produce e-invoices?

You have three realistic options: use an accounting package that already supports an ASP connection, add an integration layer between your current system and an ASP, or replace the system. The right choice depends on how customised your current setup is.

Can Erratum Solutions connect our ERP or accounting system to an ASP?

Yes. We build integrations and custom invoicing modules for UAE businesses. Start with a short review of your current invoice flow, then we outline the cheapest path that meets the deadline.
